Yes, this is very much a Myst type game. It's really just a different form of gameplay. Some like point and shoot games like Unreal, Quake, etc. Some go for strategy like Starcraft. This is a different genre of games that require puzzles, and a lot of writing. Finished the game yesterday as a matter of fact. Dumb ending, but definitely keeps the gears going and the mind sharp. :P

I do think it's interesting how much we rely on "other people" to figure things out for us nowdays though in games. A few years ago, before you could find an article for every aspect and walkthrough on a game on the internet, people had to map dungeons. People had to figure out damage on their own without using calculators. People had to figure out which dyes, tapers or combinations worked in a game on their own. It was an actual part of playing the game. I think we rely too much on others to figure out a game then we turn to them for their knowledge, to them when we are stuck, to them to know which skill is better then another. Games are just meant to get to point A to point B now. If you're stuck, log on and someone will have a walkthrough for you. Can't figure out which skill combination works? Log on and look it up. Kind of seperates the hardcore from the casual gamer I believe. Not that it's a bragging point! Games are supposed to be for entertainment after all. Just... kind of sad I think.

I do remember taking notes for the Myst games. When I was younger and playing through Zelda for the first time I would make little maps of the dungeons and wrote down the clues that different NPCs gave...

You are not alone, Inde.

Anyone remember Chip's Challenge? That game is what got me started taking notes on video games. Ever since then, I have started keeping notebooks full of information on games I found myself overly interested in (including World of Warcraft and Guild Wars ).

I'm a note taker, especially when I start a new game. My problem is I end up with all these notes all over my desk and don't remember what they are for. End up trashing them, then going crazy trying to find that 'one' note that I really need.
